Living A Balanced Life

To be in balance. The heaviest loads can be the lightest endeavors when the proper mechanisms are put into place. Have you ever seen in movies or photos of monks carrying 2 water buckets which are balanced on a stick? This is a great metaphor for us to understand balance.

Life is an mountainous experience which should always be becoming more challenging day by day. This is important for growth and expansion. Some days we will face uphill endeavors whilst other days we will enjoy smoother terrains.

What is important, and crucial to our experience is how balanced our mind is to face these encounters.

A monk carrying a 5L bucket on the right and a 7L bucket on the left will undoubtedly have a more difficult time walking to the monastery than his friend who has two 7L buckets side by side!

We can speak of many, numerous examples of things we should be keeping balance. These range from our ratio of spending/saving, exercising/eating, working/relaxing and even social/alone times.

Take a moment now and reflect on your own life. Try to see different aspects in your life and whether one aspect is dominating others? Are you focusing too much on work and thus forgetting about your own self-care?

Everyone's life is unique and special. Filled with its own motions and flavours. Regardless of what work or specific tasks one may do, the underlying theme of balance is paramount.

We invite you to critique your own life and make micro adjustments which will allow for balance to present itself, and ultimately shape the macro experience of your life into one of harmony and resilience.

So how do we balance our minds?

Even more important than balancing our life admin, is balancing the mind itself. A captain with a calm, serene mind tackling raging waters will maneuver out from this challenge without alarm and tense emotions.

The first technique at our service is meditation. The ancient chiseling tool which shapes an apprentice sculpture (beginner mind) into a timeless masterpiece (meditative mind).
