Spirituality in the modern age

Spirituality is flexible, malleable and cohesive. As water is pure and forms itself wherever it flows, so too is our Spirit. Pure, unchanging, and formless. Let not our environment hinder our potential, but rather we create potential from the environment we are in.

Our world is being experienced faster and quicker than ever before. The age of information and technology play vast roles in everyone’s lives.

Countries are developing rapidly, and so to are human minds and possibilities.

It is thus important for spiritual aspirants to be able to adapt and thrive in this climate. Globalization and capitalism has shaped the landscape in which we plant our seeds of Sadhana and Dharma.

What was once possible in the past needs to be transformed into something relevant to today’s weather.

Farming the same land over and over without reinforcing practices will result in poor crops in the future. The same goes for our spiritual seeds. With awareness of the changing winds we should be able to plant seeds into plots of land, without holding onto past techniques and faithfully believing they would still work.

Some of us may feel drawn to retreating to mountains, to forests and to temples to practice strict Sadhanas. We may feel out of place in the hectic landscapes of cities, bustling with business and activity.

What is spirituality? Does all service eventually lead to the service to others? To service of our friends, our family, the society, and the world?

What great opportunity there is to sow our seeds of spirituality in these new pastures! We may discover new yields from these new fields!

Spirituality is flexible, mallible and cohesive. As water is pure and forms itself wherever it flows, so too is our Spirit. Pure, unchanging, and formless. Let not our environment hinder our potential, but rather we create potential from the environment we are in.

Great opportunities await those who take the leap into this new age. An age where resilient, empowered individuals are needed to take charge and create foundations in the brickwork of technology and business.

Rather than ignoring the state of the world, why not attribute your splendor and joy into it?
